Madhu Sriwastav

Desh

Child in arms
She left her hearth
To save her Desh
To listen to the one
Hundreds gather
In unison
Religion, caste , class
All merge
Unite to hold
The oppressor at bay
The outsider, intruder
Whose power is forced
But without support
From within
Can it brim?
When Dyer the beast
Blood hound, stood still
Our own hands shot
Our own
Innocent, unarmed, helpless souls
Intruders gone
Now we are on our own
Still innocent, unarmed, helpless
souls
Are raped, lynched, shot
By our own
Religion, caste, class
No longer unite
But forms the rungs
Of the ladder to climb
To positions of power
Authority, genocides
Child in arms
She goes to hear the one
To save her Desh.
