Bhikhu – The Buffalo Boy

I saw this boy aeons ago
during my visit to a village ...
he was the youngest
among his peers
his slim waist wrapped in a thin towel
from his body permeated
the odour of pungent mustard oil !
sitting astride his buffalo
 his black angora skin
basked in the regality of the sun !
their vociferous shouts and shrieks
while kicking and rolling over
 in the slush
 rent the air wild !!
and finally as a mud fight developed
when the boys pummelled their backs with resounding slaps
the buffalo immersed itself neck deep
inhaling each drop of the vileless jocundity around
in complete peace with itself !!
