The Storm

She put a brave smile on her face
As she greets another day
While the last night's storm
Has caused destruction to her home
It's a never-ending fight
Between human and nature's fury
We were but made to co-exist peacefully
She has to pick up the shattered pieces
Not knowing any fault of hers
The storm was strong and she was weak
Where could she have possibly gone to hide?
To shelter herself other than the place
She has always regarded as home?
The storm ceased and she collected herself
First - because she knows the only person
Who can help her best
Is none, but herself
Before collecting the glasses
Shattered by the last night's storm.

The Privilege

I feel happy on busy days
Days - when nothing troubles me but work,
For when night comes with its eerie quietness,
it awakens the buried emotions
Emotions - long forgotten that they existed,
Sadness, ignored like a piece of soiled cloth.
A string of consciousness unleashes,
Awakening my humanness
The mind is but a vacuum,
it is filled with what we feed
There is so much more in the mind
Than it is in the visible world
Millions of buried thoughts and emotions,
Millions of regrets and anticipations,
We thought were long gone
But resurrected again
When the voices of the world
Dies at night, leaving you awake
But more dead than alive
Is this a blessing? Is this a curse?
We can never say.
But we know only this -
That this is our humanness -
This is our privilege.
